Editor's note:
Until now, merchants on Kora could only receive funds on Checkout via the Pay with Bank Transfer and Bank Cards payment methods.
But because we believe in the saying that variety is the spice of life, we’ve been developing more ways for your customer to pay you. We’re proud to announce a new addition to our payment methods on Checkout named Pay with Bank. With Pay with Bank, customers can now quickly pay you using just their bank account number or phone number.
Customers can make fast and secure payments through the Pay with Bank method in three steps.
1) Select a bank: After a customer initiates a payment by clicking on Pay with Bank, they’ll have to select their bank from the drop-down list of bank options. If their preferred bank isn’t on the list, they can suggest it to us, and we’ll make it available as soon as possible.
2) Enter bank details: At this stage, the customer must enter their account number, phone number, or unique ID as required by their bank. Our system uses this information to ensure the customer is an account holder with their chosen bank.
3) Authorization: This is when the customer’s bank requires them to authorize the transaction using a one-time pin (OTP), a pay ID generated through their banking app, or any other form of authentication set by their bank. A charge is made to the customer’s account when the authorisation is successful.
The transaction will reflect on your Kora balance after the customer’s account has been successfully charged.
Note: Any customer looking to use the Pay with Bank payment method must have online/internet banking enabled on their accounts.
If you’re wondering why this is important, it’s because this payment method makes starting and authorizing payments more effortless than ever!
