Editor's note:

I worked in banks for 15 years. If anyone had told me then that I’d go on to work at a prestigious tech company, I would’ve laughed in their faces.

I’m the Head of Sales and Partnerships at Kora. When I got my offer from Kora to come work here, I had the normal fears and concerns associated with moving to a new job, especially as I was leaving the comfort zone I’d been in for so long. It was a tough decision, but I made it anyway. That was a huge turning point in my career and signified stepping into my confidence and growth era.

For young women looking to get into sales in the tech industry, here are my five top tips:

  • Don’t ever be afraid to take charge
  • Seek out leadership opportunities
  • Always find ways to grow
  • Build your network
  • Breathe and relax

Honestly, I currently have one of my dream jobs. But my main dream job is not to work but somehow keep making money.

International Women’s Day is important to me because it’s a day that I take to reflect on my uniqueness and capabilities as a woman.

Working in Kora has been awesome. I used to work in an organisation where women’s gynaecological health was not HMO supported at some point, but if a man had issues with his prostate, it was supported by HMO. That’s an insane level of bias. In Kora, everything is balanced.

For International Women’s Day, women of Kora are sharing their stories on working in tech as a woman and what it means to #EmbraceEquity, read the rest of series here.
