Editor's note:

When I received an offer to work for Kora, my initial reaction was a mix of excitement and trepidation. These were my exact words “Omo this will be challenging o”. I knew that the screening process had been rigorous and demanding, and I realised that the job itself would likely be just as challenging

I work in the Merchant Success team. Many assume that customer service jobs are easier than engineering or project management roles. Still, if you've decided to pursue this path, understand this role is vital and requires high skill and dedication. Five key things are helping me blaze the trail in the Merchant Success role:

I went from earning NGN5,000 as an infrequent mystery shopper in university to earning what you might call a big tech sis salary.

My dream job, though would be to work as a Project Manager or Data Analyst. I have a deep passion for numbers and analytics. On the other hand, I would also love to advocate for women in abusive relationships, whether married or single. I believe this is a critical issue affecting women worldwide, and I would love to work as a speaker and advocate to help raise awareness and promote change in this area.

I take International Women’s Day personally because it’s the day to celebrate strength. Women are strong. No matter what she’s going through, she can still come with big smile and get the job done.

The most significant turning point in my career was joining Kora. A job I never knew that I needed. There is a sense of equality in Kora. It’s a free, fair and inclusive environment.

For International Women’s Day, women of Kora are sharing their stories on working in tech as a woman and what it means to #EmbraceEquity, read the rest of series here.
