Editor's note:
We started this series to bring you into the interesting reality we inhabit and have affectionately come to call The Koraverse. Once every month, we’ll take you on a journey so you can learn about all things Kora, i.e. the people and things you didn’t even know were sentient inside The Koraverse.
Today, you’ll get to know Payins.
Valentine’s day is here, and love is in the air. Our initial plan for this was to interview different humans of Kora to find out what love meant to them, but that’s basic, we realized. We decided to do something different and interview someone unexpected instead.
Or rather, something whose sentience you’re about to experience for the first time.
She’s a hardworking gal in these fintech streets and is constantly booked and busy powering the payments for multiple businesses without breaking a sweat. But we got a few minutes of her time to get her thoughts on the season of love. Ladies and gentlemen, give it up for the one and only Payins!
How are you doing, Payins?
I’m doing great.
You look amazing.
I know.
Wow. That’s a super confident response. Some would say too confident.
Listen, with the Kora engineers, designers, and product managers constantly working on me, I have no choice but to look, feel, and work right.
Whew. I love this energy, but the interview is just starting, and that’s way too much self-promo for this point. Save it for later, ok?
Lmao. I feel you. *winks*
So let’s talk about you. What have you been up to recently?
Even though I’ve been working, I’ve also been recuperating from the Christmas and New Year’s stress. Those are some of my busiest times of the year, and the workload can be intense. I’ve also been preparing for Valentine’s Day and the period leading up to it. It’s also a busy period for me, all thanks to capitalism and consumerism.
That last line is a story for another day. Lol. But it’s good that you mentioned Valentine’s Day because inquiring minds want to know your thoughts about the holiday.
Oh, I adore Valentine’s Day! It’s a day for people to express their love and appreciation for each other. There’s a particular cuteness about it that other holidays don’t have.
Tell me more about that.
The love notes are sweeter, the gestures are grander, and the gifts are more thoughtful. I know this because Kora manages the payments of many businesses and services that are heavily patronised during this season. The work is intense for me, but it warms my heart.
Your heart?
Yeah.
You have a heart?
Yes.
Ok. How?
When you decide to give something sentience and then interview it, you have to make do with vague answers like this — next question.
I’m sorry. I got carried away there.
You’re forgiven.
What do you think about love in general?
Whether romantic, platonic, or familial, love is the most potent force in the world. It brings people together, creates a strong bond, and makes life more enjoyable.
How do you think people can make the most of Valentine’s Day and show their love to their special someone?
The key is to get creative. I’m not going to list out ways, or we’ll be here all day, but the most important thing is to show your love and appreciation in a meaningful way to your special someone.
Lastly, what message do you have for our users this Valentine’s Day?
I want to remind everyone that love is what makes life worth living. So, take a moment to appreciate your loved ones. Also, remember to show love to yourself. A lot of people forget that. Express as much appreciation and gratitude to yourself as you do to others. Happy Valentine’s Day!
