Get to know Mario.

Mario is a Senior Product Designer with a real passion for his job. He’s always known he wanted to work with digital art and charted the course that would lead him to it. It has also never occurred to him that he shares a first name with arguably the most popular video game character of all time. Keep reading to know more about him.

Hey hey.

How have you been?

I’ve been good. We thank God.

‍

Love it. So, I’ve always wanted to ask. Are you part Italian? 

Uhmmm, no.

‍

Interesting. I just assumed you were related to the famous Italian plumber.

I’m sorry. Who?

‍

You know? He’s a stocky guy with a moustache whose girlfriend is constantly getting kidnapped, and he has to go rescue her each time.

I am so confused.

[in a high-pitched, over-the-top Italian accent] It’s a me! Mario! 👴🏼

I can’t believe it took you this long to figure out who I was referring to. I dropped so many clues! 😭

Honestly, I’ve never mentally associated my name with the video game. 😄

That’s not possible. Have you never played the games?

I have. I was a huge fan of them. I still am. I’ve just never had my name and the video game character in the same thought.

Fine. So, when did you join Kora?

I joined on the 1st of January 2022.

Do those count as angel numbers?

I see why you would think that, but that is not how angel numbers work. 😄

Damn. Anyway, why did you join Kora?

I joined because of the culture. The company has a real appreciation for value and high performance. I dig that.

What’s your favourite thing about working at Kora?

Not to sound like a creep, but it’s the CEO, Dickson. I have a deep admiration for him.

Tell me more about that.

He’s such a hard worker. He also does a fantastic job at inspiring everyone here. For example, everyone in management has a bit of Dickson in them from having worked closely with them for so long. I love it so much.

Wow. You weren’t joking about the admiration. Have you always wanted to be a Product Designer?

Yeah, I have. Because no matter where I work, I can make a massive impact. It’s part of the reason I joined Kora. It doesn’t get any bigger than transforming payments in Africa.

That is true. What does the future at Kora hold for you?

It’s bright. It’s bright and beautiful. There’s a lot I want to do here, but I can’t say yet.

Because I don’t want to jinx it. 🤭
