Editor's note:
We started this series to bring you into the interesting reality we inhabit and have affectionately come to call The Koraverse. Once in a while, we’ll take you on a journey so you can learn about all things Kora, i.e. the people and things you didn’t even know were sentient inside The Koraverse.
Get to know Somto.

Hi Somto.
Hey hey.
How’s it hanging?
Things are good. Everything is hanging exactly as it should.
Interesting. Well, I can tell by looking at you. You’re exuding wealth. Your aura is giving luxury and affluence. It’s giving EAT THE RICH!
LMAO. Let’s not give people the wrong idea, please. I don’t want my potential helpers to think I don’t need them. 😭
Sure. So tell me. When did you join Kora?
I joined Kora in July 2022.
Why? What drew you to Kora?
Honestly, I saw it as an opportunity to learn more about the tech space. I’d worked in tech for a bit, but I knew there was more to learn. Also, I wanted my share of the tech cake. 😄
I dig it. How does that Mama G song go again? Divide the national moi-moi.
Divide the national cake. 😂
Exactly. 😂 What would you say is the best thing about working at Kora?
It allows me to be part of something truly extraordinary: working towards an Africa with no financial borders. I am passionate about helping improve the continent, and Kora provides an opportunity to do that while making good money. 🤭
I stan your honesty. You work in the marketing department as a Creative Designer.
Yes, I do.
Have you always wanted to use your design skills in marketing, or did it just happen to come along?
I’ve always wanted to be in marketing, actually. Seeing the impact of the work we do is fascinating to me.
What’s your favourite thing about your job?
The fact that it’s fun. Sure, there’s pressure to deliver great work with tight deadlines. But every project comes with the opportunity for some fun.
All work and no play makes Somto a dull boy.
Facts!
What does your future at Kora look like?
Being on the frontline of Kora’s global expansion and managing how the world perceives Kora.
That sounds incredibly cool.
I know. I always consider the coolness factor when planning my future. 😄
Before I let you go, what’s something — big or small — that you’re really good at?
Making the bed.
I’m sorry. What? 🫢
I’m not even kidding. Don’t laugh! Sometimes, I make my bed so good that I don’t even want to lie on it. I just stand and stare at my work of art, fighting the urge to take a picture and frame it.
You know what? Making the bed is something I hate, so I can’t even hate on your superpower.
Ehen. Thank you. 😄
Thanks for doing this, Somto.
Thank you for having me.
